One of World’s First Green-Methanol Enabled Vessel Opens for Tours

Pioneering Green Methanol Vessel Open for Tours at Port of Los Angeles

On August 28, the Port of Los Angeles welcomed one of the world’s first container ships powered by green methanol for a full day of public tours. The vessel is part of Maersk’s All the Way to Zero initiative and highlights how sustainability and innovative design are reshaping the future of maritime shipping.

Path Strategy’s President, Shannon Arnold, traveled to Los Angeles for the opening and joined the broader industry in recognizing this milestone moment for low emission shipping.

With ten cargo holds, each large enough to fit 19 Olympic swimming pools, and a forward placed bridge designed to improve efficiency and visibility, the vessel demonstrated that clean energy and strong performance can go hand in hand.

The event brought attention to green methanol as a viable solution for maritime decarbonization and marked a meaningful step forward in global efforts to reduce emissions across the supply chain.
